We purchased our tickets the night before, arrived at 10:00 to be told closed due to High wind. No wind at the time and it's a house! Bizarre reason to close with no notification.

Superb tour of the house, so much to see and we learned a lot more from the guides than we would if we had just self guided. Wonderful grounds to explore

The tour is very interesting.
You can buy some food in the cafe and The tea room has a wonderful view for brunch/tea.
The painting in the house is art, but the building is a living art

We love this place. There’s always something new to do or discover, the people are utterly wonderful, and the history of the place is fascinating.
Dogs are allowed around most of the site, but not inside the house. It’s clearly communicated, and they are welcomed everywhere else—genuinely welcomed, not just tolerated! The grounds are lovely so make sure to take some good shoes and enjoy the estate.
Definitely one of my favourite places in the area.

Visited yesterday and had guided tour. 3 guides gave quite a detailed history of house. I believe this is a new thing but got off to a good start

I came here to watch a ww2 reenactment. They had a weapons demonstration and then grenades and trucks and jeeps but then they had an artillery piece and actually fired it ( with a blank) very good reenactment. They ended the show of with a final battle

Local to us so we go regularly. Very nice grounds, plenty of places to sit around the house and grounds.
As being members we save money on admission and the cafe.
The only slight complaint is the size of the car park for disabled users and people with other mobility issues. Other issues might be when it rains, if you park on the grass you may run the risk of having trouble getting off the grass.
Otherwise a very nice place to visit.

Wonderful family day out. The stables are our favourite but the house is beautiful too as are the gardens and grounds

An amazing place for children during school holidays. As much as there are beautiful gardens and great design and architecture examples for grown ups, there are horse demonstrations, a play area and many ducks to feed and chase for children.
Great all year around- from shy snowdrops covering meadows around the castle in late winter to golden leafy grounds in late autumn ! The laundry room and Dairy are entertaining and provide a glimpse into the past for small history lovers. There is a nice split between things to do for parents in and around the castle and children.
Cafe service is very slow though so make sure you bring some food and snacks with you.
Nash the horse and Milo the pony are great and patient with children of all ages.
